Child marriage remains a challenge in Uganda with about five million child brides. Moreover the COVID-19 pandemic continues to put thousands of girls at risk of child marriage. Currently in its second phase, the UNICEF-UNFPA Global Programme to End Child Marriage and partners are fighting back with a mix of holistic, right-based strategies including but not limited to promoting the right of girls to delay marriage, addressing the conditions that keep the practice in place, and caring for girls already in union.
